A European company called Magpie has come out with this service that will allow Twitter users to monetize their Twitter account. Magpie will pay you if you give them your Twitter account details. They insert ad-tweets in between you regular tweets and share the revenue with you. Will you sign up for this service?
Twitter users have shown mixed reactions to this new service. Some even saying they will unfollow anyone who has subscribed for Magpie.
Whats good about Magpie is, you get paid without doing anything. You can even decide the frequency of the ad-tweets. It can be as frequent as every other tweet i.e. no limit or as little as once in twenty tweets.
The ad-tweets posted by Magpie will have a hashtag #magpie in the beginning of the post so that your followers can differentiate between your tweets and ads from Magpie.
Before signing up for the service you can even check your Magpie worth, I’m not very active on Twitter and don’t have a huge number of followers. As per their calculation I can make upto 22.47 Euros a month. I’m sure other users with more number of followers will be worth much more. And thats easy money, you don’t have to do anything, just submit your account details and the rest Magpie will take care.
But will you sign up for this service? Would you want to bombard your followers with ads. I personally won’t, at least for now. If this service was offered by Twitter, I probably would have subscribed to its service.
If you do plan to subscribe to Magpie, you might want to use along with Qwitter so that you can know when someone unfollow you because of those ad-tweets.
Do share your thoughts on Magpie.

@Yogesh
Of course you can try it. It’s no doubt a good idea, the publisher gets paid, the advertisers gets the exposure/reach. But as I’m not too comfortable with the idea of spamming my followers to without their permission, and getting paid for it.
Magpie have introduced many new changes in the recent past. Also I am seeing an increase in the number of #magpie tweets from people I follow, which means more and more people are signing up for it.
Hmmm..Infact,the payouts are pretty decent.Almost half a pound for a tweet:-)
Moreover,we can actually control mostly all aspects of it,and with more than 100 updates comin out everyday or more,one tweet might just pass!!
Half a pound per tweet, thats a lot!! And magpie certainly allows the publishers most things, a good idea.
Magpie looks rather tempting right now.infact,more than the payouts the tweets are rather relevant and well written.There have been cases where these magpie tweets have been RT’ed too.Some ppl have actually discussed some magpie tweets as if they were jus another info tweet:-)
And the payouts of almost half-a pound and more is sweet
I too have seen some good #magpie ads. Right now the frequency of ads is quite less, and will be good if stays that way. But if more people I follow joins magpie and the ad frequency increases, then I’ll end up seeing more and more of these ads on my timeline, even the same ads maybe. And that will be a pain
