The blogosphere has been abuzz with news about Windows 7 after Microsoft distributed a pre-beta build to attendees at its Professional Developers Conference (PDC) on October 28, 2008. It has a new desktop interface, a new taskbar and many new features. Best of all, it seems to require less resources when compared to Vista.

According to this review it even ran properly on a 1 GB Ram, Eee PC 1000H. That’s pretty impressive but, its just a beta version. Lets hope the final version is lightweight and better suits notebook PCs when compared to Vista.

Also Vista’s biggest problem regarding application and driver compatibility will not be the case with Windows 7. Apparently, if a device or program works in Vista, it will work at least as well in Windows 7, even if a manufacturer or developer doesn’t update.

Many new features have been incorporated apart from updating existing features. To know more about the features read the reviews by those who were loaned the beta release.

Most of the reviews end on a positive note. The screenshots looks good. Hopefully the final version of Windows 7 will be lightweight and easier to run on notebook PCs with limited resources.

Will Windows 7 will act as a saviour for Microsoft after the Vista debacle?

Do you think Windows 7 stand a better chance at recovering some lost market share from Linux and Mac OSs.

Microsoft hasn lost any share to linux , if its minor.

I think itll be a minor update of vista(leaner , cleaner and stable vista).with some UI tweaks thrown in …

BTW, even if it does go lean it’ll still be bloated and blloated like hell…
