Update: Google has officially added the colour option in their image search

A new feature in Google Image Search now allows you to filter search results based on colour. Although this option isn’t available in the user interface, adding a small code to the search URL should do the trick.

First perform a normal image search, and add &imgcolor=colourname to the resulting URL(replace ‘colourname’ with any colour of your choice).

For eg:

Normal URL when performing a Image Search for ‘bird’.

http://images.google.co.in/images?gbv=2&hl=en&safe=off&q=bird&btnG=Search+Images

URL when performing a Image Search for red colour ‘bird’.

http://images.google.co.in/images?gbv=2&hl=en&safe=off&q=bird&btnG=Search+Images&imgcolor=red

See the difference in search results below for the same keyword ‘bird’.

Result for ‘Bird’:

Search for 'bird'

Result for red colour ‘Bird’:

Search Result for red 'bird'.
