Some people say
Indians are born with cricket in their blood, not true for me. I am an Indian, a proud one at that, but not a fan of cricket.
That being said, I like oCricket, which happens to be a social network for cricket fans. I’m an internet junkie, so when a new social network is launched, I can’t help but sign up and explore the same. Even if it’s about cricket.
What got me hooked to oCricket was it’s simple yet useful features. While you can’t poke or throw sheep(thankfully), oCricket has most features(friends, groups, et al) that a typical social network has to offer. But being a niche social network about cricket, more emphasis is given to sharing cricket related photos/videos/articles. If you are a registered member you can write your own articles(it has blogging features too!), post links to already existing materials on the internet. Submitting content is really easy as it supports Flickr, Picasaweb, Youtube, Blip.tv, Metacafe. You just have to submit the link and oCricket will automatically categorize it as a pic or video, credit the original source, display necessary copyright disclaimers, et al.

But the thing I like most is the frequency at which the oCricket team introduces new features. Some interesting stuff that the team rolled out recently…
Free Score Update through SMS. You just have to sign up for oCricket and update your mobile number. At the time of publishing this post free sms score updates is available only for USA and Indian numbers but I’m sure it’ll be available for other countries pretty soon. This feature will no doubt be a boon for cricket fans.
A Gtalk/Jabber IM bot. Add seeker@ocricket as a friend on your Gtalk or any Jabber IM and get the latest info/news from the cricketing world. The latest score, interesting links, photos, videos and many more available through your favourite chat client.

Cricket Talk. Which is basically an app which makes it easier to track cricket related conversation/tweets on Twitter and reply/comment on the same. Replies can be relayed to your twitter timeline. It uses oAuth to integrate your twitter profile, so you don’t have to give your twitter ID and password. It is a user powered app. Users suggest keywords which are in turn voted by other users as ‘hot’ or ‘not’. Once a keyword becomes ‘hot’ enough, Cricket Talk will track it for others users to enjoy.

Considering oCricket is a new startup, I’m sure we will get to see many new features.
Do check it out if you are a cricket fan.
They also have a contest going on where you could win lotsa goodies, visit Cricketheist for details. I won a mini bean bag for my phone, so can you.

To me.
IMDB Top 250 List is a must-watch list of movies for any movie buff. Now here’s a site by
@sanand0 to
track the IMDb Top 250. You don’t need to create any separate account with this site, just log in using your Gmail ID and password and you can go about marking movies you have seen. At last count, I have seen 105 of the top 250 movies. It even provides you with a widget you can display on your blog/website to show the number of movies you have watched. Here’s mine:
Another thing I found usefull is the recommendations. Based on the movies you have seen and movies that other people with similar interest saw, the site recommends some movies that you should watch.
I think this is a very usefull aplication for movie buffs like me.
If you try it out, do let me know how many movies you have seen in the comments.
I used to sync my
Twitter and
Facebookupdates using the Twitter application for Facebook. That meant updating the Facebook status more than 50-100 times a day(or even more!). Problem was, very few of my Facebook friends know what Twitter is and they found the frequent updates irritating. Some even labeled me a spammer. Well I do spam at times with my blog post notifications, but thats another story

.
So I uninstalled the Twitter application. After that my Facebook status updates became less and less frequent, sometime the status remained for days. This was a long time ago.
And today I thought of asking what other tweeps do, do they sync the updates, do they face the same dilema I’m in?
So I tweeted “How many of you sync Twitter updates with Facebook status update.. Non-twitter friends complain??”
While some said their friends don’t mind, there were others like me, with irritated friends. For those of you who are in a dilema, worry not. There’s another application which lets you update your Facebook status with only selected tweets.
Using the Selective Twitter Status application, now you can update your Facebook status with only those tweets that that you choose. So no more confusing, spamming and jargons for your Twilliterate friends.
All you got to do is add the application to your Facebook profile, give them your Twitter handle(password not required). And you are all set to rock and roll.
Next time you want to update your Facebook status with a particular Tweet, just add “#fb” at the end of your tweet, thats it. This pics will give you a better idea.
1) Post a tweet with “#fb” at the end.

2) Almost instantly, your Facebook status is updated.
So, if you are on an active twitterer and wants to update your Facebook status without spamming your friends, this is the way to go.
I am happy I found this application, are you.
Btw you are more than welcome to add me as a friend on Facebook or follow Twitter.
